There are many names given to this (truly) special island, but the only way to experience its uniqueness in full is to see it for yourself. Otherwise, you won&#8217;t believe us. So, we invite you to visit it.<\/p>\n<p>We have visited and can confirm that it is truly wonderful. The<strong> emerald green sea and the pine-scented air<\/strong> are just two of the many treasures this island has to offer. Every walk or bike ride becomes a form of therapy, which is why Lo\u0161inj is an ideal destination for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visitlosinj.hr\/hike-bike.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">active vacation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In this article, (in addition to our enthusiasm for the island \ud83e\udd2d), you will find <strong>practical tips and recommendations<\/strong> for your stay on Lo\u0161inj. So, without further ado \u2013 let&#8217;s get started.<\/p>\n<h2>How to get there<\/h2>\n<p>You can reach Lo\u0161inj by car <strong>with ferry<\/strong> from 2 directions: the island of Krk (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jadrolinija.hr\/download\/35bd65ba2ab19125099596b7dfeed53a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Valbiska &#8211; Merag<\/a> line) or Istria (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jadrolinija.hr\/download\/84ed0f37e01d202029ea71b86f3e4c60\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brestova &#8211; Porozina<\/a> line). The journey takes about 20 minutes from either direction. A slightly less popular, and much longer (7-hour) ferry line is the one from Zadar.<\/p>\n<p>Ferries run frequently, especially in the high season, so we recommend <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jadrolinija.hr\/en\/search-buy-ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">buying ticket online<\/a><\/strong> to avoid waiting. If you miss the ferry, <strong>each pier has a caf\u00e9 or restaurant<\/strong> where you can eat or drink something while you wait for the next one.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that there are <strong>2 bridges<\/strong> on the island that open for vessels at certain times of the day. From viewpoints to gardens and forests, this fragrant island has it all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Museum of Apoxyomenos<\/strong> \u2013 Located in the very center of Mali Lo\u0161inj. It is entirely dedicated to the statue of a young athlete that was found lying on the Lo\u0161inj seabed. Check ticket prices and opening hours <a href=\"https:\/\/www.muzejapoksiomena.hr\/en\/visit-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Lo\u0161inj&#8217;s Fragrant Garden <\/b>\u2013 The garden contains more than 200 fragrant plant species, both wild and cultivated. There are also domestic animals, the most popular of which is Betty the donkey. There is also a small shop selling handicrafts and souvenirs. Check the opening hours <a href=\"https:\/\/miomirisni-vrt.hr\/en\/garden-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Providenca&#8221; Viewpoint<\/strong> \u2013 It consists of an educational trail and a bar that serves local delicacies. The bar is very popular, so be sure to <a href=\"https:\/\/losinj-providenca.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">book a spot<\/a> a few days in advance. The viewpoint offers a wonderful view of the Cres-Lo\u0161inj archipelago. We recommend coming before sunset because that&#8217;s when the atmosphere is truly special.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blue World Institute<\/strong> \u2013 Lo\u0161inj is so beautiful that even dolphins have made it their home. There is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blue-world.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">center<\/a> in Veli Lo\u0161inj dedicated to their protection that organizes dolphin-watching tours. If you&#8217;re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of them from the beach, leisurely jumping in the distance (I once saw them from the beach Rovenska \ud83d\ude0a).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>And don&#8217;t forget to go on lots of walks. Lo\u0161inj has 18 marked walking trails. Various<strong> shows and concerts<\/strong> take place in each of the island&#8217;s villages during this time, and you definitely won&#8217;t want to miss the folk festivals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Veloselske ljetne u\u017eance<\/strong> \u2013 One such festival takes place in Veli Lo\u0161inj every year at the end of July. The program usually lasts 2 days. The main highlight is on the last day, when they organize Veli Lo\u0161inj&#8217;s version of the popular &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sinjska_alka\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alka<\/a>&#8220;, called Veloselska Alka, as well as an interesting and extremely funny event &#8211; walking on a slippery pole. There is fish and wine, music, and a waterfront full of curious people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Osor music evenings <\/strong>\u2013 A\u00a0classical music festival that takes place in Osor every summer in July and August. The venue is the Osor Cathedral. The program is available <a href=\"https:\/\/en.osorfestival.eu\/program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Folk festivals<\/strong> \u2013 These are related to religious events or patron saints. First, there is a mass, followed by an entertainment program. Some of the more famous festivals are: St. Gregory (Sv. Grgur) in Veli Lo\u0161inj on July 7, St. Mary Magdalene in Nerezine (July 22), and St. James&#8217; Day (Sv.
