Dog-friendly beaches in Croatia

Dog-friendly beaches in Croatia

Time spent with friends is time well spent. The same goes if your friend has four legs. The problem is that not everyone is as enthusiastic about dog company as you are. This is why many areas and beaches are restricted for dogs. However, the popularity of dogs is on the rise, so you will find more and more dog-friendly beaches along the Adriatic coast. If you plan ahead, there’s no need to leave your furry friend at home—you can both enjoy a relaxing, stress-free vacation.

Beach day with your dog: The (un)written rules

To ensure a safe and enjoyable stay for you, your dog and the people around you at the dog beach, there are some rules that you should keep in mind.

      1. Always keep your dog on a leash unless otherwise specified. Several other dog owners visit the beach with their dogs, and not all dogs like the company of other dogs. Even if the beach rules suggest that dogs don’t have to be leashed at all times, keep your dog in view and under control.
      2. Always clean up after your pet. Leaving dog waste lying around is unhygienic and will only result in disapproval.
      3. Blue Flag beaches usually don’t allow dogs unless otherwise specified. Respect that!
      4. Make sure you provide your dog with enough shade and fresh water at all times to prevent overheating and dehydration.
      5. Even if your dog is a good swimmer, it is advisable to use a dog life jacket to prevent any unnecessary stress in case of unexpected situations.

Now that you have gathered all this useful information and advice, choose a destination that interests you and start planning your dream holiday with your best furry friend!
