Summer is great, but if you don’t like crowds, the noise will overshadow even the brightest sun and sea. We’ve put together an overview of the tourist season in Croatia, and we believe it will help you choose a time that has everything you want!

Tourist season in Croatia

In Croatia, there are four phases of the tourist season: the main season (high season), pre-season, post-season and low season. The pre-season is in spring, from April to June, and the post-season in autumn, from September to November. The main season covers the summer months (from June to September), when the greatest number of tourists visit Croatia. The low season is during the winter months.

High season

High season in Croatia starts in June and lasts until September. During this period, spending time on the beach is one of the main forms of relaxation. And regardless of the crowds that are inevitable in the summer months, thanks to the numerous hidden coves, in Croatia you can always find a small corner of peace and solitude. During this period you can also enjoy various concerts and numerous organized events.

Low season

During the winter months Croatia is relatively quiet. The coast, which is extremely lively and busy in summer, is quiet and peaceful in winter. Therefore, off-season vacations in Croatia are an excellent choice if you want peace and privacy. Although it is winter, temperatures are not uncomfortably low, and you can still enjoy outdoor activities. Also, accommodation prices are more reasonable in winter than in the high summer season.

Spring and autumn

In spring and autumn the weather is mostly nice with lots of sun, pleasant temperatures and little crowds. If you are a nature lover, these are the best months for outdoor activities and exploring nature. One of the best ways to make the most of outdoor activities is to visit national parks.

The most famous national park in Croatia is the Plitvice Lakes National Park, located in the Continental Croatia. Well-known for its 16 lakes, the Plitvice National Park welcomes thousands of tourists every year.

The best time to visit Croatia

The winter months, from November to April, are the quietest times of the season. If you don’t like crowds and the noise of tourist towns, this is the perfect time to visit. The coast is calmer, and sometimes you can feel the breath of the local winds – the jugo or bura, while in the interior there are real winter temperatures. During this period you can enjoy the local cuisine and culture, long walks by the sea, empty streets, as well as much cheaper accommodation.

If you want to find top-quality accommodation at more affordable prices, the best months to choose from are April, May, September and October. Many villas in our offer provide accommodation throughout these months. In this period there are still many events and activities you can enjoy, and the weather is excellent. It is warm, but not as hot as in summer, and there are far fewer tourists.
